Update 22-08-2018 – Hamurana Springs in 2015 was transferred from Department of Conservation Guardianship, and given to Ngati Rangiwewehi as part of a treaty settlement, upon revisiting in the weekend just past, access to the reserve is now fenced off with a ticket booth and an $18.00 per Adult charge to access.
11th May 2012 – Lake Rotorua and Hamurana Springs – A free hidden gem of a reserve that was discovered by accident. Looked after and maintained by Department of Conservation and local volunteers.
