Millennium Cave, Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu

31st March 2018 – Exploring the Millennium Caves on Espiritu Santo Island in Vanuatu. Early morning trip from our accommodation, up a very rough unsealed road to a couple of villages far inland. Requires a bit of fitness and the ability to swim. When we did it, it rained very heavily on the swimming portion of the trip, followed by thunderstorms.

The Gorge swim was perhaps more picturesque than the Millennial Caves themselves, with several rather spectacular falls though were quite difficult to properly photograph (particularly if you’re floating down the river).

The small sensor Olympus TG-3 just doesn’t do any of the waterfalls justice. (Hint: I am still looking out for a water resistant point and shoot Still camera with a sensor greater than 1/2.3, to this day, can’t believe there still isn’t one for I am sure this is an obvious gap in the market.)
