30th December 2016 to 1st January 2017 – On the Tuatapere Humpridge Track

A spectacular privately operated walk of approximately 60 km spanning over two nights staying at Okaka and Port Craig Lodges. Operated by the Humpridge Track Trust. Website: www.humpridgetrack.co.nz

Was the first time I ended up with blisters for as long as I could remember. Many Thanks to “Marie”, a kind hiker from another contingent for helping me out immensely for the last leg out back to the car park. Looks like the Voltaren Gel helped me out immensely.

Also, part of the same trip Stewart Island / Rakiura and our “in between times”, Southland Road Tripping.

Stewart Island Rakiura

26th to 29th December 2016 – Rakiura / Stewart Island Trip.

Part one of two of our New Years’ tramping expedition. On the Rakiura Great Walk itself for two days from 27th to 28th December 2016.

Group members for this trip included Matthew Davison, Brody Radford, Dan Ward (The one who did most of the organizing) and Fergus Young (myself) who completed the Rakiura Great Walk, along with Nicole Scheid and Karen Platini who came along to the Island and did a series of several day walks around Oban.

I did spot the back of two Kiwis in broad day light (whom did scamper off back into the bush as soon as I caught sight of them), though was not quick enough to snap a photo.

Weather was stormy (windy with isolated down pours) on the first day on the the trail itself, though thankfully did not stop us from seeing some great scenery.

Whanganui Journey

Whanganui Journey 11th February 2016 to 15th February 2016 – A magical canoeing trip along the Whanganui river with Blazing paddles.

A 5 day, 4 night Journey from Taumarunui to Papiriki covering a distance of approximately around 145 km. 2 Canadian Canoes and 1 single kayak (which I took). Miraculously, despite the pre-trip warnings of expecting to capsize at least once, while there were definitely near misses (getting snagged on a strainer and taking on water or being thrown onto rocks while going around a sharp bend on rapids), We escaped capsizing

Group members include: Carl Brett, Lina Zhou, Trevor Scott, Shan Shan Ou, Fergus Young (Myself and who ended up being the Primary Photographer),

2015 Milford Trip: On The Milford Track day 4

26th January 2015 – Final day of the Milford Track. From Dumpling Hut to Sand Fly Point, aboard the ferry and back to Te Anau Downs to pick up the Rental cars.
